One of Rhino Revolution UK’s trustees, Imelda Bell, visited several schools in South Africa earlier this year to raise awareness about rhinos and The Crash.

Imelda read one of her books “Mhelembe, A Rhino Tale” to children and answered questions about Rhino Revloution, The Crash and rhinos in general. Several children signed up to become Crash Crusaders.

Will Picken from Western Province Preparatory School in Cape Town was inspired by Imelda’s visit and signed up to become a Crash Crusader. Will was determined to help to prevent rhino poaching, so decided to talk to his school to get them to help.

Below is a video of Will talking to his school about his plan to raise money for Rhino Revolution.

Will sent us this report:

“Earlier this year, Imelda came to talk to our school about the work that Rhino Revolution does to protect our rhinos.  I wanted to do something to help because I’m worried the about Rhino population.

I signed up to Rhino Revolution and loved reading the five rhino stories. It made me really feel that I wanted to help baby rhinos like the lucky five.

I had an idea, so I asked our headmaster, Mr Botha, if I could share one of these stories with the boys in our school and have a “civvies day” to hopefully raise funds for this work. I made posters and talked to the boys at assembly and was so happy when we raised R5440 on our “civvies day” last week.  A big thank you to Mr Botha and Mrs Becker and everyone at Western Province Preparatory School (“Wet Pups”) – all the teachers, parents and the boys for being kind and supporting.

Some of my friends and family also wanted to help and in the end we were able to donate R6140 to Rhino Revolution.

I hope that this money will help to stop another baby rhino from becoming an orphan!”

From William Picken, aged 10, living in Cape Town, South Africa.

We are so grateful to Will for helping to make a difference. He has been so passionate and enthusiastic and he is a wonderful example of a Crash Crusader. Well done, Will!

Thank you so much, Will, you are amazing!
